The first season of the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup in Misano drew to a close with success for Pinetti Motorsport. After nearing pole position and victory in Race 1, Marco Zanasi reached the top step of the podium in Race 2, where he dominated the track from start to finish; his team-mate from Castelnovo Monti, meanwhile, scored a double triumph with the Hankook.
An extraordinary performance that places the Maranello driver among the direct contenders for the title. Keeping Zanasi company was Victor Briselli, in the second BMW M2 CS car entered by the Parma-based team. A weekend to remember, then, for Pinetti Motorsport. As his coach Andrea Belicchi said:
“If it hadn’t been for the difference in the tyres, allowed by the wildcard rule, Zanasi would have dominated in Race 1 too. Everything went smoothly and the only time he was under any pressure was in Race 2, because of the safety car. He kept his cool and took home the victory, securing a first place in the championship which, despite being tied on points, he came out leading due to the speed of his laps. A fantastic weekend for Briselli too who – after a somewhat overshadowed qualifying performance – confirmed his prowess on the track. He handled the pressure during skirmishes well and triumphed in the Hankook Trophy. Well done”.
Among the Under 26s, meanwhile, the third position in the championship was earned by Verona driver Emma Segattini, who finished Race 1 with a good eighth place and then came second in Race 2.
