Ferrari Challenge 2024 and what Marco Zanasi’s new 296 holds in store

For the 2024 season, the new Ferrari 296 Challenge will be replacing the 488 at the starting grid of the 32nd Ferrari Challenge. This move introduces significant changes which will elevate the level of the competition.

But what important innovations have been introduced with this new car? Let’s start with the most significant. Marco Zanasi’s new Ferrari 296 GT3, derived from the 296 GTB, will be sporting a boosted twin-turbo V6 engine capable of delivering up to 700 HP and 234 HP/litre.

As far as aerodynamics are concerned, the model features solutions such as the S-Duct –  that channels air towards the central radiator and vents through the bonnet – and a “swan neck” rear wing. The braking system has been completely redesigned. Compared to the 488 Challenge Evo, the 296 GT3 has recorded a 2-second faster lap time at Mugello.

The interiors have also been optimised, incorporating a new steering wheel and controls developed for heightened ergonomics. For example, the LED engine rev bar has been repositioned  on the digital instrument panel, for better visibility. Finally, the dashboard control layout has also changed, so that the most used controls are easier to reach.

Interestingly, Marco Zanasi’s car has received sponsorship from businesses such as Zanasi Group, SIM Maranello, SCP, Peluso Automotive, TURN, and CDP (Concessionario Ferrari Perugia).
